We started Biztech Lawyers to provide our clients with the service they need, wherever and whatever that may be. It’s a bold statement for a small firm with some really ambitious and innovative clients, but we already have human resources in 5 countries on 4 continents, and we’re still growing; we’re looking for additional US-trained and licensed lawyers with exceptional insight, agility and genuineness to strengthen our integrated global team. We specifically are aiming to add to our Charlottesville, Virginia based team. 

As a tech-centric business law firm - think AI, FinTech, Robotics, IoT, AdTech/MarTech, Healthtech, CleanTech, BioTech, e-commerce, etc. - we are working with some of the leading companies in their fields as well as some of the up and coming disruptors. We are a team of attorneys and professionals with a can-do attitude. We roll up our sleeves and help chart a course through the various regulations and legal requirements to help our clients operate their businesses and get deals done. About this role

We are looking for Biztech Lawyers  to join our team. This role is open to lawyers looking for a new type of challenge, in a dynamic, remote-first environment with a global team of colleagues. Target compensation is $80,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on experience, with higher salaries available for senior and very senior lawyers (especially with portable business).

Responsibilities

  • Be an enabler of each client’s goals, a trusted navigator on their journey
  • Jump in and learn a lot. We want someone who is naturally prone to figuring things out, driving to results, and making a difference
  • Establish productive relationships with internal teammates and with external client teams, helping them find a solution to problems throughout the business cycle
  • Convey actionable advice, advising on potentially a wide array of issues, including privacy matters, negotiating contracts, and handling anything else that requires legal guidance—with the help of the team, of course
  • Do a little of everything - We’re a small team and so there are opportunities to try lots of new things!

Job requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited law school
  • Active license with the state bar of Virginia (or commitment to obtain)

Preferred Experience

  • You know a lot about a lot of things, and are also comfortable learning new things
  • You are able to give practical advice without having complete information (including identifying what information you don’t yet know, by asking questions!). You break down complex issues into smaller issues and create logical progressions through them
  • Your impact is much greater because you work well with other subject matter experts
  • You’re a self-starter who is comfortable working independently. You drive projects forward

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in BigLaw
  • Prior experience in-house
  • Well-developed personal and professional networks
  • Other business-related experience such as having run a startup, worked in consulting, or completed an MBA program
  • Excellent educational credentials
